Feel free to ignore this self indulgent entry as it is of no interest to anyone except myself, but it's the highlight of my day, so I'm writing it any way.
I broke the thin guy world bench press record today. At least that's the way I'm telling it. I've been kicking around the idea of joining SWAT recently, so I've been working out pretty hard for just over two months now. I've always been thin and the most I've ever bench pressed was 180 (with some help from my spotter I suspect) back when I was young and working out years ago. I was surprised that with a little research on nutrition and a lot of soreness, I was making progress after starting my new work out regiment. Since I'm in training this week, I had someone at our academy spot me while I found my max.
As a skinny guy, I never thought I'd be able to break 200 on bench press, but I figured I'd give it a shot with all the progress I've made. I lifted 215! It blew my mind!
Now, I realize that this will impress almost no one because of two things:
#1 The girls out there don't suffer from the testosterone overload that us guys do, and thus couldn't care less.
#2 To the big/buff guys out there, they could lift that as long as they can remember and don't see what I'm excited about.
Well, perhaps this will explain why it's a big deal to me. I found this ratty old photo of me when I was probably about 13 years old:
When I got my driver's license, I was 6'2" and weighed 155 #s. The betties may not go for me and the guys may not envy me, but at least I don't look like that any more!
