Grrr
My 57 has been in pieces for days now! It had a leaking rear end so I decided to fix it myself even though I'm not an advanced mechanic by any means. Besides being all bass ackwards and having to remove the whole front housing instead of just a plate on the back, It had a couple of strange square (not hex) bolts that were damn near impossible to get off after all these years. I'd done a little at a time before work the past couple of days and had dropped the drive shaft, unsecured the 12 bolt housing, removed the rear wheels and pulled the axles out so that the housing would come loose. I didn't think it would get so involved. I was on stand by for a subpoena today and they were supposed to call me by 11 am if they needed me to testify. Since this is a VERY messy job I waited till after then to finish up.
At 11:45 my pager went off. They needed me to come to court and testify. I was covered up to my elbows in 48 years of grease and road grime. I even had it all in my hair from laying under the car in all the grime that was coming off. This is not stuff that comes out easily either. After about an hour of spraying degreaser directly on my skin, scrubbing and then showering with Lava soap, I was presentable enough to go in to court (the prosecuting attorney is young and hot by the way) where I spent the rest of my day. I have to go back tomorrow too.
When will I get to put my poor car back together? I sure hope I can find all the pieces and remember where they go!
