OK I need some input on this one. If I'm being some kind of ass, then just tell me so.
I have an ex-girlfriend I get along with and we would have the occasional booty call, but both of us date other people more than each other. Today, after I gave her a ride and we ran some errands together, she told me that she was thinking about having a monogamous relationship with someone she was dating and she didnt think we should have sex any more. I told her that was totally fine and wed be completely platonic. Immediately after this she wants us to take a nap together in the same bed. I told her that sleeping in our underwear together wasnt exactly platonic, so she took a nap and I did some stuff around the house. A little bit later, after she got up, she starts to hug on me for no particular reason. I gave her a quick light hug back and said that she was giving a little more than a friendly greeting hug. So, we got into a big discussion about what the rules are now since we suddenly dont seem to be on the same page. She tells me that she doesnt want to lose the affectionate stuff between us just because we arent having sex any more. I try to explain that by definition, friends are normally more friendly with each other than overtly and viscerally affectionate. I dont have a problem with a friendly hug hello. She asks if Ill still call her. I tell her that Ill call her as often as I do my other friends, but most of the friends I have long phone conversations with are people out of town that I dont see very often. I will still call her, but it wont be as often and it wont be at 2 am to babble about nothing in general. I told her that we might meet at a show and I will probably buy more than she does, but shell buy the occasional round. Thats the kind of relationship I have with my friends that there isnt anything romantic going on with either. She agreed, but it was obvious that she was really pissed but wasnt saying so.
Whats your honest take on this? I think Im being logical. I dont think this was some kind of bluff by her so that I would want to get back together. I think she just wants to still pretend like there is some romantic connection and still be able to have a boyfriend and tell him hes the only one. Im sure its not that she doesnt want the sex. She has always pushed for that more than I have.
