I saw more homeless people than usual on Saturday night... so I got to thinking.

I have been watching these not-quite-reality shows in which they build you a new home for submitting a video in which you glorify some trivial act of kindness you did. Last night they gave this family a new home because they volunteered to watch the neighbor's cat for a week while they were on vacation. What a waste of money. That family defintely didnt deserve a new home, maybe a handshake. In line with people getting things they don't deserve...Oprah just gave people some cars - not very good cars - but cars, just for being poor! I drive by poor people everyday - they don't bitch to Oprah because thier '78 Monte Carlo keeps stalling out. Now I'm a good guy and I care about the poor, homeless, and downtrodden.... but sometimes I think like a Republican and feel that there needs to be more "handups and not handouts."

So taking some ideas from the other not-quite-reality competition shows like Fear Factor, Amazing Race and Big Brother ... I think I've devised away to help poor people and provide quality entertainment at the same time.

I havent chose the title yet but the show kinda goes like this:

Randomly pickup 15 homeless people of the streets and ship them off to Los Angeles for 2 months to live in a Hollywood YMCA. Free meals and and a nice warm place to live - how could any homeless person resist. In order to get to stay in the Hollywood YMCA - each guest/contestant would have to outwit and outlast his or her housemates. As the show progresses the floormats turn into sleeping backs and the sleeping bags turn into cots... followed by beds - real beds. I'm thinking there could be bonus challenges besides the daily "kicking to the curb" challenge in which contestants can earn amenities like toothbrushes and showers and soforth.

When all is said is done one lucky homeless person wins a home! A fucking home! Just as good as (or close to) the homes on Extreme Makeover Home Addition. The winner now becomes home-full - and they earned it! No freebies.
Sears can pump for all the advertising they want as long as they supply the home.

Perfect unity between entertainment and social justice.

I think George W. Bush said it best:
"REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF ABANDONING THE POOR. IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND. THEY NEVER VOTE FOR US." and "PEOPLE ARE NOT HOMELESS IF THEY'RE SLEEPING IN THE STREETS OF THEIR OWN HOMETOWNS."
sarcasticmenace:
Haha! Great idea for a reality show. I liked everything you said, up until the part where you quoted Bush. wink
