i want to pack up and leave for mauii. or some island where i can sculpt things for tourists and make JUST enough to eat and have shelter and hang out on the beach all day.

I second Thailand... Some friends spent nearly 6 months in
SE Asia most of it in Thailand (awsome picts of the trip
http://www.00ff00.com btw) ... They said once you get there
it is really really cheap to live. I don't know about making money,
but I'm sure something could be found...
