the contract I was supposed to have lined up didn't materialise. or, more accurately, self-destructed before I arrived and they just failed to mention it. so, I started the hunt. Luckily I knew that the amp'd gig wouldn't work out long-term, so I had already laid some groundwork at places I would prefer to work. Of my top 3, I have 3 interviews, and I know either the founders or very senior execs at each. 1 today went very well, another friday and the third whenever. That one says I have a job, just need to figure out what and if they can afford me. 2 of them in Santa Monica around the Promenade, 3rd is mid-wilshire.

All in all, looks like an easy hunt this time around. Good to see my guesses realised, that my rep has only been strengthened by time away!
