Howdy folks. I'm having a scotch and watching the episodes of dollhouse I missed. Shame it's gone the way of the dodo. It was a clever show...

I watched a friends movie today. As I was watching it, I thought to myself "This is pretty good, reminds me of Phillip K. Dick." Later there was a reference to vonnegut. Sigh. I was close. And I...

Just the right drunk for a new post. I had a busy week. Road trip with my brother... My dad inherited/bought a boat from his dad/uncle. It was left in our yard and someone came in cut the wires and stole it. So my dad bought a motor from minnesotta... And then couldn't go pick it up. Which meant a road trip for me and...

angad19:

dude who would win in a fight superman or goku are you serious? I didn't even know who goku was and that is the whole point. Why does superman always win and always come back?

but Goku always wins, and then always comes back. Superman was "killed" once, and then regenerated. Goku actually died, numerous times, and then came back to life stronger. Like Gandalf. lol.

While you did raise a good point about the narrative immunity, the question is asked outside the realm of writing/anime. The question is who would win, if they were both real. Powers vs. powers. Abilities vs. abilities. Weaknesses vs. weaknesses. Narrative Immunity doesn't really come into play if noone's writing the battle.

angad19:
Sir, I have seen the latest crisis (Final Crisis). Superman just pulled the same shit he always there where's he's like a bitchy toddler who whines and cries and gets emotional and then blows shit up. He's 2-D. A flat character. Sure he's dominant, but to what end? Yes, he was first, but therein lies his weakness. He's an icon, nothing more (as is shown in various different plotlines where Superman becomes the government's patsy).

Goku doesn't have a particular archetype. He's strong because of super strength, flight, and chi-blasts. What I initially thought to be his main advantage over Superman was the fact that he could teleport. Even so, after giving it more thought, Goku is still human and would tire way faster than Superman. Goke doesn't have the superhero endurance to match Superman's. While I do see why Superman might win, I am in no way a Superman fan.

yeah, math/science classes are often the most difficult on any campus, but between the two, I'd say the levels of difficulty are subjectively based on how your mind works: if numbers just fall into place for you or if you can make sense of models and reactions.

you can ramble on my blog all you want man. smile

Howdy folks. My kind brothers in town this weekend. Which is fun. I went and picked him up from Milwaukee and drove back here with him and his girl. I've met her before but I don't know her super well. I inflicted games of twenty questions on them. At some point my brother and I were fairly crude. But not too crude. Just fun. It...

Watchmen and killing joke are great. I wasn't really moved by v for vendetta. Swamp thing is really fun. I put it up there with watchmen. League is ok. I liked the black dossier better than the other two... but that might be because of my love of crazy shit. I mean for fucks sake it has both 3d glasses and a 1984 Tijuana comic. Alan moore. What a crazy cat. I only read about hal jordan's parallax never read it. I'm looking forward to the black lantern things becoming trade. That looks fun.
angad19:
the Blackest Night series so far is pretty fun... i've been reading it on and off every so often. Even so, in my opinion, none of the comics/trades can compare to a nice, well written Batman storyline (Loeb, Morrison, etc). They just can't match the complexity of the characters and the intricacy of the plot.

For example, This past summer, I read every single Batman and Green Lantern comic book since about 2002 (I know... loserville :whateversmile and quite a few of each's TPBs from the late 80's onwards. Batman's stuff was excellent. GL's slightly paled in comparison as it's a lot of fluff and feel-goodery ("our willpower will defeat your fear")... that kind of traditional superhero stuff yknow? That said, Blackest Night has a Batman arc that I haven't read yet but should be pretty good. (Sorry if it got too comically-intense up in here... i'm a freakin' nerd) tongue

I've posted blogs (typo-ed bogs which is not inappropriate.) frequently and fairly vapidly. I passed my first actuarial exam today. Would have been better if I knew this would be important and did this in college. But I'm happy to have passed by a fluke when I didn't study enough. This blog will be long... feel free not to read it. if you are not...
