The figures whitened in his mind unsolved: displeased, he let them fade.
The illustrations were woodcuts, executed with that crude haste to see the finished product that marks the amateur. True pornography is given us by vastly patient professionals.

I consider that a compliment, because I have been most painstaking about the results of the set I am working on! Every day I sit here and am immured in Photoshop, like a painter, flinging colours everywhere...
Except I wish I were actually painting.

I thought of you when I read it (It's from Thomas Pynchon's "The Crying of Lot 49").
Have you not another name but this?
Are you The Artist, and he The Writer
and she
The Filing Clerk?
Is this all that you are?
What means have you to live
but by your name,
and what name
have you but this?
What is your role,
when all the roles are but one role,
when all the roles
are a multiplicity of faces,

No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous -
Almost, at times, the Fool.

My journal, or "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"?

dia:

Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, to the sea
Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you...

What is it from?

"Sea of Love", by Robert Plant and the Honeydrippers.
I promised I'd talk about the Writer's Festival, and I will. Just not right now.
I think I should just talk about how lucky I feel to be here right now. There are, last time I checked, 72 lovely women here sharing themselves with me. Their bodies, their minds, and no matter how large or small it is to them, a part of their lives....

i read the whole silly thing, and i did think you kept your cool rather well, as compared to times i've seen you get agitated in the past...i actually thought that, as in, before you suggested it.
you, dia, just shouldn't worry about them. if they don't like the idea of that kind of stuff here, you technically already have a pretty fool safe plan for that...don't you?
realise the majority of the users on this site, the people that actually pay and have made it popular, don't read the boards or choose not to post, so the small percentage that do shouldn't bother you.
tonuge in lap? hehe, you'd have too much fun with that.
fish sauce....uh, hi, figured i should say atleast something to you 'cause this is your journal and all...

Feel free to talk amongst yourselves, I don't mind.
Actually, Dia, I think that's the most tactful I've seen you in that kind of situation.

I'm going to the Eden Mills Writer's Festival tomorrow. Sheila Heti and George Elliot Clarke are going to be there! Alistair Mcleod is meant to be the guest of honour, but I couldn't care less. He's fashionable at the moment, but not quite as good as Clarke, and Heti... well, she's only put out one book so far, but it's wildly original and she shows...

That sounds so exciting; I'm drooling with jealousy just to be involved in anything remotely literary. The best I get is Dr. Seuss. Well, ah, me... been reading some at least, still wading through all the classic lit I missed dropping out just past my G.E.
Um, August, you look pretty, um, nice, commando like that, um... wow! I did not know. Cutie!

Why thank you (and here I thought you didn't like hairy guys).
The festival was absolutely brilliant, and I got to do everything that I wanted to. I even got some pictures (although, damnit, the biggest disadvantage of my Canon S100 is that it's so small it's impossible to keep still--I should have taken my Pentax MZ-50, or maybe just a tripod).
I'm burnt to a crisp, though, because there was no shade at all. So I'll post in detail about it tomorrow, instead of tonight, like I planned.

I wasn't too sure about this at first.
I was recently involved (peripherally) in a large debate about the merits and morality of pornography, and of course I came out, more or less, in favour of porn.
Now I've decided to walk the walk, but with a bit of class. No teeniesex.com for me, thank you very much.
I'm here for a month, for better...
