An ambition of mine in life is to become a published author, the only problem with that is writing a book good enough to be published. My current job doesn't really leave me a lot of time, so I've started a lot of things and haven't finished them. It's a problem I hope to rectify when I'm free from the military next year.
I think I've gone about it all wrong though, so I'm starting an outline this time and fleshing things out before I dive off into writing my inane thoughts down on paper. After all, it's hard to forget things like a characters name or what they'd talk like if you give them more substance than 'likes to talk to his sword'.
Fan fiction is a bit of a warm up when it comes to writing for me, I just started one last month that's only ten thousand words long at the moment, but I enjoy it. You can't break out into a full sprint and expect to do good without stretching, after all.
