Oddly enough, my cat does the same thing. Except he also drinks out of the sink- we turn the faucet on, and he laps at the water as it falls. Sometimes if THAT doesn't do, he sticks his head under the faucet with the faucet running, lets it fall off his head, and laps at it on the sides of the sink as it falls.
