So... we won the war? I guess?
I like to imagine the Iraqi people dancing on the toppled statue of Saddam. I'm worried about believeing any reports because at the moment, they sound too good to be true. The American media lies too.
And now for something completely different...
If there's one thing I like talking about, it's music. I always feel like I don't know enough about it because I'm only familiar with 1% of the music that's out there. If I'm ever in Santa Cruz talking to a record store clerk, they're always talking about groups I've never heard of before. "Uh... I'll just take the Foreigner album... thanks."
One thing I like to gripe about is how I don't like new music all that much. I mean, that's not totally true. There's a lot of new hip-hop, techno, and samba that isn't that bad (and no, I'm not clumping them into a category - there just happens to be some good new stuff in those genres). Rock... ehn, rock isn't doing so well nowadays. I've been hearing, only very recently, some groups that are reviving old styles and rhythms or using more blues and bebop influences in their music. This makes me happy.
I heard this one group last night on Conan... what was it... The Mooney Suzuki. They wren't that good, honestly. I guess they're really popular, or something. Right after the show ended, I heard the same song they played on some commercial. I guess that also means they're popular. I don't even know anymore.
Have some group or person ever gotten really big and you just couldn't understand it? Like, you seriously could NOT understand it?

River Man is one of my very favourite songs. Something about the perfection of each line in that song...sigh.
