I just finished throwing a surprise 25th anniversary party for the parents on Sunday. Much fun was had. Much partying ensued.
I was sort of stressed out because maintaining a surprise of that magnitutde is, well, stressful. Not only do you have all those possible sources of screw-up (each and every one of their friends could have ruined the surprise at any time) but there's a window of opportunity wherein the perpetuation of the lie (that is - that there is no celebration going on) rests solely on my shoulders.
Fortunately they did end up being surprised, we drank, I made a speech, we drank, we ate and ate and ate, and then, after many many hours of revelry - we cleaned up and went home.
There's a party tonight for one of my friends who's turning 21 -- and I don't know if I have the energy to go to another party tonight after being there until a million in the morning cleaning up. Should I... nay, CAN I pass it up?
