Sometimes you gotta decide between having more time and making more money.

Like an idiot, I almost consistently choose making more money.

Do you hate where you work? Where would you work or what would you do (seriously) if you could?

Hehe, I hate my job with the fires of a thousand hells... biggrin
But one can only hope its a temporary jumping off point where we suffer while stockpiling the funds to do what we really want. But its amazing how not happy you can be when you go with the money route... I feel your pain!
Good luck though, its bound to improve.

I'd like to be a music whore. I'm not, but I'd like to be. I like to listen to music, play music, and know the artists I'm listening to. I read liner notes, I read biographies, I watch Vh1. Lots of Vh1.

If you wanted to introduce someone to ONE great artist that they probably never heard anything by, and you absolutely had to give...

I was responding to Cheech's journal entry when I realized just how many major celebritiy legends had died in the last year. I'm a fan of antiquity, and the loss of these people of note makes me feel sad as they pass on from living legends to the legends of old:

Milton Berle - Comic Funnyman
John Ritter - Of "Three's Company" fame
Johnny...

Kill Bill is awesome. If you haven't seen it yet, go. Now.

I learned earlier today... well, I shouldn't say "learned" because I had always thought it, but it was never put into words so eloquently... that:

- You have a right to your opinion
- You don't have a right to have your opinion respected.

I have friends who, when they're losing an argument,...

Hiya. Yeah, just having some worries, but I'm okay now. I ascribe my weathering worries to the help of the films 8 1/2 and Wet Hot American Summer and talking to friends, and some special email... but it is so nice to see people around here caring. I just needed a lil sad-away-from-SG moment there but I'm fine.
smile

I was just thinking-- couldn't opinions be very wrong if they concern things based on facts? Art is based on opinions, but things like matters of state and morality should be based in facts.
cheech:
Well, I don't like that about courts-- one judge can set a precedent forever with that kind of mentality. Then you have dumb things like an aside in the back pages of a court case that ends up defending the concept of corporations as entities with greater rights than people, and that truly sucks.

ps - souljacker's the one who dislikes Zappa; I'm the one with 5 Zappa CDs sitting here on my computer desk.

Looks like SG decided that their bandwidth costs were through-the-roof and made the wise decision to go really image-light. I always thought it was funny how they used images, even for numbers of various pages. They'll probably end up saving themselves hundreds if not thousands on bandwidth or server costs -- or so I'd imagine. It's a good design, in any case, and I commend...

Actually, I really don't think MTV them selves ruined rock. Music was still good for at least the first dozen years of MTV. Music videos can be really fun, really good cinema...

NO, I have to blame the bands (or should I errr say rappers, looking at current MTV?) themselves. It's their fault.

BUT if Jack Black and you want to overthrow the MTV headquarters by force in order to somehow help spread the sounds of AC/DC, then hey... I'm sure I can find a shotgun somewhere around here.

Yeah, after being here a while, I consider San Jose my home now. For the past couple weekends, I've been in Eugene, Oregon though...and it makes me want to consider Oregon as my home. Very pretty, but too much moisture there.

love Yep, the new design here on SG makes everything load so much faster on the ethernet connection here at school -- the difficulty is searching for where everything is. mad

By popular request, another journal entry.

I don't keep a proper journal anymore. I think it was making me crazy. Some people think that crazy or iffeminate people keep journals, but I think that keeping a journal perpetuates those qualities in people. Getting in touch with your emotions and being retrospective in excrutiating detail is a feminine thing to do. It's not bad, but it's...

YAY! A new journal entry! biggrin Yes, because you keep a journal here you are so much more girlie. Everyone will think what a pansy you are. Ha ha ha tongue

(1) No Soul.
(2) See above.
(3) The "soul" is about as real as "santa claus" is... What individuals perceive as the soul is merely a consequence of the innumerable neurons and synapses that are firing and re-firing in the cerebral cortex, corpus callosum and other various parts that make up the human brain.

Hey, Happy B'day (a day late)! I'm seeing the White Stripes on Monday so I hope they do a little better than what you reported. The no encore thing is something I have mixed feelings on. I like an encore or two if it's really well-deserved and the crowd is demanding it, but if it's just a routine part of the show where they walk off and then walk back on like a ritual it's sorta dumb and too "show bizzy" for me. When I saw The Strokes about two years ago (before the huge backlash hit) they basically just announced something like "We're gonna do two more songs and that's it, no encores. We pretty much don't know any more songs." Words to that effect. I thought that was cool and it left the crowd in a frenzy when they were done. I'll let you know how I like the White Stripes after the show next week. I'm seeing Liz Phair tonight. See ya later.
