Yesterday afternoon I indulged in reading part of one of my favorite authors most well known series. It was wonderful. I finished the enitre copy within a few hours. (I don't know if one should admit to reading comic books at my age, but Neil Gaimen is a truly exceptional story teller and that this particular story is in comicbook form, well. that's how it goes sometimes.) [actually... little known secret of a forgotten dream. I was massivly into a combonation of literature/fiction and independant comics for a while, searching out pieces and parts, starting to write my own. There's a school in Savannah which has a comicbook degree... yes. you can get a degree in juxtaposed art. I was going to and combine it with a degree in fiction to learn how to craft the stories I was telling into something palateable. The only thing that stopped me was the thought that I wasn't a strong enough storyteller to actually sit and create something that people wouldl want to read. I was also intimidated by the strength of other storytellers who were more exceptional than I, and also those within the "industry" who made it big, forgetting that they were just as geeky as the rest of us. So I forgot my dream, wrote my desires off as frivilous and havn't found something I've wanted to do as much since.]

Now the concepts of money and making a living have been thrust upon me to the point where I do not feel as though anything is worth it and that ALL is a chore.

They're called graphic novels now. That's so the many adults who read them don't have to say they read comic books.

I haven't read any graphic novels, though I have a long list of ones that I'd like to, including everything by Neil Gaiman.

Umm... what a sad entry. Sorry you didn't pursue your dream. Mind if I ask what you do instead?

My dreams were all set aside years ago, so I know the feeling. It sucks. frown
