sigh.
the dating sucks board occasionally really really sucks.

Simply put, there's been a massive discussion on the concept of a female playing with a married guy because she wants no strings attached and single guys tend to want strings of some sort.

My orgional point was that the questioner already knew the answer to her question, but to question herself and see if she could handle various senerious and to also "Keep in mind that marriage is a socially constructed understanding of interaction. When you mess with it, you're messing with people's understanding of what it is (their connotation) as opposed to it's actual and practical existance. [And that]
In the end, you'll have to make your own decision... we all do. "

There then ensued about five pages of responses and pandamonium can easily be used as an example of what happens when someone wants to work outside the understood socially constructed order of things. How freaked out and nervous it makes everyone? As it was primarially females who were pandamonius in their responses of even the concept of a male cheating on them it can definatly be argued that the females understanding of her place in the world is based on her social status and sense of 'home'.

Something about women, (this was brought up in another thread on the same board, and was exemplified in this particular "discussion" - that term is used loosly) is that women like to think they're the only one getting the sweet outta their guy. When another woman comes along and proves that the first doens't hold the rights to his hard on, it dislodges the understanding of woman A's place in the world and sends her existence into abit of a tailspin. Because her social place and 'home' just got wrecked, instead of dealing with her man and their situation, the third party or other woman, the homewrecker, is to blame.

This is actually rather interesting as a behavior.

Anyways, enough babbling about human interaction and relationships and crap.
I hope you're having fun and enjoying life.

On the way to the supermarket, and in a moment of boredom, I was thinking about the things that we consider to be intrinsic parts of our being, which are in really nothing more than parrot fashion learning.

English Sauna's are not mixed and most English women would find the idea of going naked in front of unknown men and women to be apauling. In Europe, its so common that people don't think twice about it and in France, even the toilets are mixed.

If you asked a typical English woman if it was natural for women to not want to go naked in public, I suspect that would agree with that statement, because she has seen nothing to contradict that. However, a woman in France may give an opposing answer.

It is so easy to confuse social conditioning with instinct.

Like wise, in Arabic countries, hetrosexual men can be seen walking down streets holding hands. English and American men would think that to be very odd, that would refuse to think that men would act that way, because they have been conditioned to think in a certain way, which is not really natural.

I regard attitudes that are shared amung all people, in diveerse culturs to reflect our true character, but attidues that differ greaatly between cultures are the result of social conditioning.

I wonder how much of the behaviour you mention is intrinsic to human nature and how much is due to social conditioning?
