My apologies to Jaime Sabines y a todos los mexicanos. I'm about to butcher yet another poem. Y'all should read this guy's poems. He kicked ass big time.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The Moon.

You can take the moon in spoonfuls,
or in capsules every two hours.
It works well as a hypnotic or sedative
and it also heals
those intoxicated of philosophy.
A chunk of moon in your pocket
is a better lucky charm than a rabbit's foot:
it's good to find the ones you love
and to keep doctors and clinics at bay.
It can be served for dessert to children
when they haven't gone to sleep,
and a few moon drops in the eyes of old people
will help them die in peace.

Place a tender moon leaf
under your pillow
and you'll see what you want to see.
Always carry a small bottle of moon air
just in case you're drowning
and give the key to the moon
to those imprisoned or disappointed.
For those sentenced to death
and for those sentenced to life
there's no better tonic than the moon
in precise and controlled doses.

-Jaime Sabines.

This is the final installment of the day of the dead posts for this year so I'm gonna post a few more pictures I took this thursday during my unplanned and so very awesome excursion. These are altars from around the country that were on display here in Puebla. One in particular was dedicated to Frida Kahlo. I don't like her work, but I know many people do so I took some pictures of it. Another altar was dedicated to the mining workers that perished in an explosion, and there were many more.

I'm also gonna upload some pictures of Puebla. Not much, basically just the Cathedral and stuff...

Soon to come, pictures of the Festival del Dia de Muertos that took place on thursday as well. There were some BMX dudes, a couple of bands, some guys hanging from the skin of their knees & back, graffiti exhibitions, and I think I'm getting the tattoo done sometime next week.

Enough. On to the pictures.

EDIT: Sorry about the poor quality and the awkward presentation of these... The first was because the files were too big. The second I can't explain.

Great pictues. Beautiful alters, such pretty colors, I can almost smell 'm. I must come not next year but in 2008.
And there I go again (sorry can't help it) I just LOVE those skulls. One of them in the 8th pictures even has rollers under a net on her head. That just cracks me up hahaha biggrin Do they try and make the skulls resemble the person who died?

You're amazing, you know that? kiss
