work - blah, stuff - blah, blah, blah, blah
This is an official time of mourning. One of the best independent record shops in Glasgow is shutting down. Echo on Byres road, the place where I have often invoked the gods of random CD purchase and have never been disappointed.
As far as I'm aware they were the only place in Glasgow that did World Serpent stuff, and while you can get it online there's nothing that compares to getting a vibe off a box or noticing something out of the corner of your eye.
The only silver lining is that they're selling stuff off incredibly cheaply, not much of a consolation but has allowed me to stock up on enough music to see me through the dark times ahead. Missing Records still do a decent experimental section, but its not quite the same....

got any pics of your rubber chainmail? that sounds cool. i'm a metalsmith jeweller, so i understand the whole art vs. making money problem veeeeeery well. i don't want to only make "art" stuff that nobody wears or loves or sweats on, but i don't want to only make commercial stuff either. i try to make some "art" first, then some production work will always come from there. and that's my little tuppence re: art.
