Why can't I change my profile? I make all kinds of changes, hit "save", then go back to my main page, and I'm back to the old profile. What the fuck am I doing wrong?

First use new blog or edit . . . hit save . . then do not use the back key. Click on your name in the upper right part of the page. See if that helps!
