I did NOT wake up this morning on the right side of the bed: I had a dream that there were cockroaches and leeches in my bedroom. I woke up very disoriented and scared. I even made my dad come in the room and check my closet!
Michael has an old mp3 player that he is going to give me IF he can find it. That is very cool of him, and it will also save me money!
I have a 12% chance of getting a full-time position in the West Warwick School Dept: there are 3 permanent positions and 5 one-year only positions. And 66 applicants. I think I have a pretty good shot, though, and I am going to give it my all. This doesn't count the other district I interviewed with, and the charter schools that I have applied to.
This afternoon I went to the 2nd grade classroom that I had a long-term in and they flocked to me like sheep! They were so cute! Their teacher is NOT coming back to the Catholic School next year. She is going to graduate school in Boston in the pursuit of getting her Master's Degree in Special Ed. The starting pay at the school is $23, 000 a year compared to $35, 000+ at public schools. That disgusts me that these parochial schools pay less than Taco Bell-even assistant managers at fast food restaurants start at at least $25, 000, and that is is without a degree! I'm going to stick with subbing until a job opens up, OR I may relocate to Massachusetts where teachers are in demand. The principal of the Catholic School is going to write me a letter of recommendation which should help my candidacy for permanent positions.
Okay, now for the exciting news! Tonight I am getting another tattoo! It's going to be the words "Dream" and "Believe" wrapped around my ankle. Very girly font, not too dark. Brett and I are going right after I get done teaching at Sylvan.
Write me something sweet.
