Last night was so amazing! My boyfriend and I celebrated our one-year anniversary by going out to dinner at the same restaurant that we went to a year ago. The food there is so delicious: completely Italian and expensive. I think I'm still full from dinner...we had wine, appetizers, bread, the main course, coffee, dessert...it was really special.
For presents, I bought two-6 packs of Major League Soccer tickets so that we can see the New England Revolution play at Gillette Stadium this summer and fall. That might be the most thoughtful gift I have ever come up with. We'll have a ball drinking and cheering!
Brett bought me a 5-carat amethyst pendant necklace shaped in a heart. There are diamonds around the top and the chain is white gold. He also bought me a white gold and amethyst bracelet. I was delighted with just the bracelet and then he pulls the necklace out of his pocket and I'm like whoa! He spends too much money on me sometimes. I tell him to save, but what can you do? He does have excellent taste in jewelry.
I got home fairly early and went to bed because I wanted to make sure I was well-rested for my day with the first graders. But, lo and behold, the Warwick School Dept fucked me in the ass! I guess the regular HR girl Kelly was out sick because some quack called to ask me if I was available to work. I told her that her district had already given me an assignment. She was like, huh? Where? Who are you subbing for? I never remember what the teacher's name is...I just show up at the school and tell them what grade I am in for. They can figure it out. Anyway, she wants me to find out who I was supposed to sub for. I couldn't help her so she asked me if I was available to work the next two days. Sure I says. She gives me the name of the teacher and the schools before telling me its for Phys. Ed.
I have never subbed for Phys. Ed before. I always said I wouldn't, but there I was! The good part was that I get to wear jeans and sneakers, the bad part was that I could have slept an hour longer. Argh.
I have to admit that I had fun today. I basically umpired games of soccer, kickball, and freeze tag. The first graders and kindergarteners were so cute! One little boy lost his tooth, I don't remember how many shoes I tied today, and they cry when they don't get a turn to be the tagger.
Sylvan called and told me that they didn't need me from 4-5 because a few kids had called out. I walked in at 445 and I was immediately pissed off. Here's why:
1. I don't like when some people are singled out for things while other people get away with murder.
2. I don't like when favoritism is obvious. Of course all upper management have their favorites, but let's not make it obvious.
3. When business is slow, everyone's hours should be cut equally....no one should be asked to go work 45 minutes away because management is too lazy to fiddle with the schedule and make adjustments.
I am there for the kids. I don't give two shits about the business aspect of the place. I think it's absurd that they charge each kid's parents 50 bucks per hour of instruction but they only pay us instructors 12 bucks an hour. But, again, I do it for the kids and the fact that I want them to be successful.
That's a wrap for tonight. Hope you all enjoyed your day. Clarkekid has text messaging now so I can bother him all the time! Woo hoo!
Did anyone go see Those Hills Have Eyes? If so, let's hear your review...but don't give away too much of the story.
Hugs and kisses-
