I'm off to a television writing workshop for a week. We'll see how that turns out.
It's in Buffalo, which will give me a chance to catch up with my relatives and grab a beef on weck, maybe a few texas red hots. Before that I'll be in PA at my brother-in-law's family farm, watching my uncle detonate $400 worth of fireworks and relaxing for a few days.
Two days ago, I went to drop off six bags of clothes at Goodwill and the representative behind the counter acted as though I stepped on a baby, because it was after seven. I told her I'd called ahead and was informed that I could donate stuff until they closed. She was curt in her response that I was "full of it," and when I asked if I could leave the donations anyway, she refused.
Wanting to vent a little, I contacted the NY Goodwill offices, fully expecting nothing more than a way to let off a little steam. They were extremely apologetic. The Vice President of the regional division contacted me and asked for a description of the employee so that "actions [could] be taken." I've never actually had a company take my complaints to heart, so that shocked the shit out of me.
Meanwhile, the six bags of clothes are still here. More because of a lack of time to make the trek, but party because I'm sure if she sees me there, she'll bite my arm.
Have a good fourth of July, folks.
