Thanks to everyone who asked to read the pilot. I sincerely hope that you enjoy it. If not, I apologize. I've decided to contact my only real connection in the entertainment industry and see if there's anything he could help me with regarding a final, improved version of the script.
Today is Grey Tuesday - a unified online protest against EMI for censoring DJ Dangermouse's remix of Jay-Z's 'Black Album' and the Beatles' 'White Album.'
I've finally completed the art for david's Antigone Prologue and I had a great time doing it. Got design work from Dark Horse Educational -- although I'm not much in the design department -- as a sort of booby prize for having done their art in the past. They'e decided to use the kids' art rather than having me translate the stick figures into something more substantial. Makes sense, since it's far more exciting for the kids to see their own work in print.
I've also avoided spending a lot of my savings on taxes by getting a financial institution to do them for me (something I never thought I'd do). I was pleased with the outcome and surprised that my agent was human, with emotions like the rest of us.
And there's been an odd resurgance of old pals of mine. They're popping up through friendster and my old e-mail accounts, trygin to rekindle whatever we had before we lost touch. While I'll probably write back to all of them, one in particular irks me a bit:
A friend of mine from college who I confided in went on to sell a rare gift I gave him on eBay for upwards of $1000. He tried to hide the sale from me, but when I found out he only said he "needed the money for a GameCube." Way to destroy someone's confidence in you by selling something they gave as a gift on the condition that you keep it.
There's more to it -- he's the type of fellow who only seems to call when he wants something, and he's f-ed over quite a few of my good friends with rumors and deception. Now he wants to be friends again. He must need me to fix something. Either that or he's caught wind of me through the film school grapevine. It seems I'm a minor celebrity within their community because everyone knows about the pilot, including an old instructor-turned-writer who is considering having me and my writing partner write the foreward for her book on writing partners.
And now it's snowing.
