Goood weekend. I left good old mainland BC and my home in Vancouver for a quick ferry ride to Victoria. Victoria is home to an unnaturally large ratio of population to suicidegirls. Me and Angelvanilla met up with Ophelia for a bit in the morning and again for dinner. We tried to meet up with Tiamat but we couldn't get ahold of her so it...

Thirteen Steps
by fenris23
The air felt like it should have had dust in it, it was a brownish gray with no sign of cloud or sun. The trees all had branches hanging like willows, the flash freeze having hit after unseasonable warmth. A crow drifted easily onto a bowed treetop from where I knew not. At least I had a companion on my dismal...

When I was a kid christmas was a thing that you savored. I would wish it would never end and EVERYTHING about it made me happy. When did it turn into what it is now? I happily survived the christmas season. I got some stuff I needed and well that is it. My family didn't have the big fight that was brewing the entire time...

Christmas time.... how dull.
Well nevermind I will have fun on christmas eve with my family. I shouldn't have come on here at three in the morning. Thats what it is.

1. blind. i would miss music too much.
2. train wreck. i think you'd have enough time to see the cars in front of you derail, or at least hear them before you actually die. get that couple seconds of euphoria before death. or it could be dread, i guess.
3. billion dollars. i think i would get tired of life eventually. what if you try to kill yourself but you don't die? oh wouldn't know what to do.
4. worse to put them up. fuck, you did both! double worse for you, i guess?
hope your holidays pick up with less boredom. whenever i'm bored on someone else's computer i usually go to popcap.com and waste time with a couple of their games.

YAY today I did most of my christmas shopping in one hour flat. Only my parents left to buy for. To reward myself I went and had Thai food. MMmmm green curry and coconut milk.

hahahaha I had the same fucking problem! I was so sucked into the plot that even though I was falling asleep I needed to stay up to see the end. I thought it was Norweigen (sp?) though due to the names.

Well earaches are gone. Disney is gone. Back to hockey, I am now the shop steward for my department. Shop steward is an unpayed union position that just entails helping my coworkers with their problems. You would think that they would be happy to have one after a number of years without one but... some of my coworkers are angry and resentful for some reason....

Three days of bloody hell. Earaches and Disney music over and over, This week my beautiful hockey arena was defiled by DISNEY ON ICE
Attack of the Princesses. I am convinced now that the movie Death to Smoochy was completely right. Child ice shows are pure evil. The sheer amount of sugar that is brought in to be pumped into the kids at insane prices...

You need to track down a brit show called Bo Selecta, there's a sketch on there with Michael Jackson doing naked chicken ice skating which ought to raise a smile. It's certainly a better use for a hockey rink than fucking Disney

New joy in my life, ear aches are back. You know I almost missed them, like a too tight bear hug inside my ear. The pressure throbs with the beat of my heart. This is it. I will not accept illness anymore. I draw the line. I declare war. I will reconquer my own body.

nano update:
some interesting stuff going on. a nano-scientist (phd in chemistry, working in physics), a sociologist, a medical lawyer, and my prof were the speakers. they were all really interesting. the scientist talked about how nano-hype is making people too scared. the sociologist said they have a right to be scared. the medical lawyer talked about a hand-held pcr dna test that is going to be commercially available in the next 2 years, and my prof talked about public consultations in developing nanotech policy.
after all that was done, we had a smaller session to discuss the possibility of developing a national center in conjunction with the national institute for nanotechnology to look at the policy issues coming up around nano.
