SG Blog Homework: What did you want to be as a kid, and what is your profession now?

As a kid I was all over the place. As one of my favorite quotes goes:

"Just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean" - Lana Del Rey

First I wanted to be a veterinarian. I was so set for years about it. Then I met a former Vet and tattoo artist who was so upset about the industry being all about making money and less about caring for animals that I completely changed my mind.

Then I wanted to go into the Marines. Yep you read that right. The Marines. I went to a military program from the age of 11 to 18. Year after year graduating and ended up platoon leader, staff sergeant Florez. Yea thats my last name. I loved it, until of course during soccer practice I dislocated my knee cap and needed a knee cap realignment and well now my knee is like my Achilles Knee lol! And well that went out the window.

For a long time I was very lost after this. I did waitressing for 7 years and felt out of place and confused on what I wanted to do. My dreams had been shattered and I was honestly depressed. Looking back at it now I am so happy that I didnt end up going into the military because I am honestly more of an inner hippie then anything.

Around the age of 22 I saw this picture and it gave me a little hope.

I have no idea who this woman is. I just saw the picture and decided, maybe thats what I should do. A nerdy badass computer chick. And then that became my next dream, going into computers. Which was extremely broad but I knew Id figure it out eventually. That same year (age 22) I got fired from my gogo dancing gig, went back to waitressing and got really into shooting pool.

At some point I even tried making my own clothing line around 23. They were denim vests studded, dyed. Etc. Heres some picturs of my work. "WICKED RAVEN DESIGNS" No longer in the works but I had to try it all.

@mariko modeling one of my vests

Myself modeling a vest.

Some gogo dancing pictures at slake NYC that no longer exists. Slake was the sister club to webster hall. Which also no longer exists lol

Heres me and @mariko 3 or 4 years ago gogo dancing in her cage! What a blast.

Shooting pool started as a great hobby and pass time. I did as a side thing and didnt realize I was falling in love with it. Around 23 I had already gotten around 10 trophies and my game was improving insanely quickly. I also landed a job doing designs for home operating systems. Basically I made the screen on your ipad look pretty for when you went to turn your home lights on, ac, etc. So I was getting there. Where I wanted to be.

Heres me with the first system I ever designed.

Then one day around 24 everything started to click. My pool game was on point and I was starting to build this inner secret dream of being a professional pool player. I worked hard. Hours maybe 30+ hours a week practicing. 3 teams a week tournaments. I was unstoppable.

The plaque that changed it all. Won 3 tournaments to win this plaque and a free round trip to vegas. And of course some of my trophies in the back.

The summer of 2017 I landed a job as a administrative assistant at an IT company. I am still here now as office manager. Year 25 of my life has really gone the direction I wanted it and I am finally not a confused puppy. I know what I want to be and I am so close. I have my IT job and am at the door of being a professional pool player. Last month I landed my first sponsorship from a custom pool cue company who is in the works of making me a whole cue set. A playing cue, break cue, and a jump cue. I could not be more proud of myself. I found who I am and what Im suppose to be doing and I am fighting my way to the top.

Thanks for reading guys 💘💖 @rambo and @missy @bloghomework
