first entry- been here for 24 hrs now, was hooked fully after the first 3 minutes! when im not a retail slave, im a very passionate amateur photographer. I aprox 3-5 shoots a month if possible and ive been doing it for almost 8 years now.
In photography as in EVERYTHING in my life, I am self taught. so, what i do photography wise is creat an interesting concept, post for models on Craigs List - weed through the flakes and do my shoot.
about a week ago, I began to post for models interested in more "creative" shoots.
I am long burnt out on "booby and Butt" shoots and have to toss stuff i did regularly to make new room. I was thinking I wanted to do classic pin-up focal points with an urban, contemporary or street edge. ( i swear I didnt know SG existed) one respondent to my post listed her self as an SG girl in her experience- i asked i thought, "suicide girl" hmmmm whatever. she had only ever done 2 shoots and one of them was SG she said the sample she was going to send me was on "out-take" from her shoot here. ( OMG she was so right!) it took me over 2 hours of editing to bring her out of the bad lighting and shadows LOL i think the camera fired while the photog wasnt looking. but cleaned up the girl looked great.
I have a shoot planned next week with her and a friend. so a couple nights ago, i asked for the link here so Icould evaluate her range of comfort and interest for the next shoot.
poked around and was FLOORED!!!!!!!!
it was like an ALL in one! it had everything. it had the sex appeal i love in an everyday looking woman (genetic features) it had an urban tilt. I had a pin up style and tons of freedom of expression! instantly my brain went "artistic nude" and then i shook my head around a bit because it sure didnt look like the normal artistic nudes
it was raw, it was edgy. it was bold. and by and large done by photographers who knew all of that and conveyed it perfectly. and for 48 bucks a year?!?! i joint in the first 10 min and it will take me a wonderful life time to evaluate it all!
ok, now that Ive Kissed SGs ass good and proper. what am I going to do here?
hmmmm well, damn it- i found (at least for now) the direction i want to go in photographically. Im going to look at everything i can get my hands on here, practice technique do some shoots, post the results here and just be the little shit disturbing rebel I know I can be.
i would love to do this stuff professionally.
we shall see-
oh and make a mental note if you will. Joe cant spell well, never could- gave up trying at 30. im articulate as shit but D in the spelling dept. if im not too tired, i usually cut my entry over to word doctor it up and paste it back ( i think i will do that here) but i do forget so, forgive me will ya???
