Nice to be doing something constructive again. I'm helping build a vine trellis for my mom using the existing outdoor basketball court. Off went the hoop and backboard and up went the custom mounting bracket I made onto the top of the pole. It's been a lot of fun coming up with ideas using what is available (mostly large U-Bolts, standard bolts, and pressure treated 4x4 and 2x4's). The next bit is trying to figure out how I want the trellis to extend over the court. She already has some nice vines with bright orange flowers extending up to the pole along rebar tie (thin but heavy wire) and she wants to extend the wires up and along the trellis so the vines can create a natural canopy over part of the court. It will be interesting to see what I come up with. I'll post some pics once I've gotten it up.
In the mean time, I've found a new way to waste my time (uh oh...)
It's actually been there for a while now, but the Silliness board has a random album creation thread. It's very fun and addicting, the idea is to photoshop (or use whatever you've got, even MS Paint) an album from randomized flikr images, quotes and wiki-links. I've only got two up myself so far but I've got a number of great band and album names already in the works. Check it out and see if what you can come up with.
This one reminds me of an ambient electronica group (think Royksopp or perhaps Boards of Canada), but perhaps I just being influence by the fact that the Nakoaiyet Islands are way up North in Canada (brrr!).
This was just a perfect alignment of hardcore punk and disaffected angst. I'm pretty sure since the images generated for the albums are recent Flikr uploads, this must have been at the G20 protests up in Canada (again). Rulzheim is a place in Germany and it also a great, thrashy sounding band name. I also made an alternate image which I kind of like better but it's best viewed full size.

I also found that another album generation addict is also from my same hometown (and he's done some awesome covers!) Check 'em out. I guess I should call it a night, I've got a trellis to finish in the morning. G'nite.
