So, I'm going shopping, and as usual dressed as a schlub. Hair sticking up straight, of course, no makeup, whatever clothes, tattoos showing. That kind of thing.

I go to the Lancome counter to buy some stuff because even though I don't wear makeup all the time, I love the stuff, and perfumes, and skin cream, and free gift promotions, etc. etc.

And of course the heavily made up woman at the counter ignores me completely. She is busy helping a little old lady try to remember if she usually gets "beige" or "light beige," or something of the sort. Counter-woman just kind of shoves me out of the way so she can have better access to the array-of-beige display. Doesn't care that I am testing out the lip colors on my arm.

When I start buying stuff, she's stunned, like "oh you're here to buy things?" Uh-huh.

Don't they know that young people are bad with money, and that they are way likely to spend three times as much as any stingy old lady? On things like blue lipgloss?

I guess not.
