Well, after doing much internet research it seems the problem with the car is common to the VW Passat. There are already class action lawsuits and it looks like we will have to join.
The mechanic will call tomorrow, but based on what I have read online it sounds like the engine is toast. We are looking at $5,000+. And that is just to fix an engine that will fuck up again.
My plan is to call the dealership tomorrow and explain the situation. Then ask to speak to the owner, who from what I have read will not take care of the problem. I will then explain to the owner that I will begin striking his dealership next week. Just a guy, picketing in front of his dealership, with a sign and a bunch of fliers explaining how he sells lemons and there is a class action lawsuit against VW. If he doesn't want to deal with me after that, God bless him, because I am a man of my word.
We did rent a Prius. I am very impressed. (the mechanic drove us 40 minutes to a Modesto. Nice fucking guy)
