Wow. Camping in Mexico was really incredible. smile

We went south into central Baja and started out in El Rosario. The town wasn't much, and neither was the campground, but it was a great place to start the next morning when we headed a bit further south to the boulder fields and the cave paintings. That was fun. (I don't know why, but when I travel I like to see stuff like this.) Then we went north, past El Rosario (where we stopped to have some delicious lobster burritos), and camped in San Quintin.

The campground in San Quintin was a lot of fun. Right off of the beach, between the beach and the saltwater lagoons, the air was fresh and the showers were hot but salty. A little campfire, a few smores, cooking over an open fire -- it was a great night. It rained on us here, but the tent did a good job and didn't leak at all. When it wasn't raining, walking on the beach in the moonlight was surreal.

The next day we drove north again up into Ensenada, then headed west to La Bufadora. This was the most touristy place we stopped. Here we bought a bottle of good tequila and brought it to a campground on a cliff overlooking the ocean. That tequila was so smooth, and the view so much like looking over the edge of the world -- a light head and a view like that is quite a combination.

Woke up in the morning to the sound of tactors and headed north again. Went to a small fishing village just outside of Puerto Nuevo. Had some really tasty Mexican seafood here and saw them bringing in some gigantic crabs. After we'd eaten we drove south back to Ensenada, to the Routa del Vino, and took a tour of a winery. Took part in a little wine tasting, then headed north into Tijuana. (You know, we drove through "TJ" twice and didn't stop once.)

That was the end of our trip, crossing back into San Diego just after dark. Somehow we managed to avoid the spring break crowd everywhere we went. We were the only (or among the only) gringos in most of our destinations.

A new quarter begins tomorrow. Back to school. I wish I could have a few more days to rest and get ready, but I had enough fun to last me for a while.
