Cancer claimed my best friends Mom last week. She was really a great lady. I grew up around her a lot, and she taught me a ton about life. She was probably the single strongest women I knew, incredibly confident, but not to a fault. She had been battling cancer for 10 years through 5 different times and finally gave in. I really feel that it was for the best though. She was in a lot of pain and it just seemed like it was her time. I mean, I'm definitly sad, but at the same time, I can't help but be really glad she doesn't have to suffer anymore. Plus, I guess I'd really like to celebrate her life instead of mourn her death. It just seems more fitting....
Some of the ways people are honoring her are really cool too. She was a big time skier and the day after her death the local ski patrol fired a 105 howitzer at Mt Baldy and triggered a truly massive avalanche....
My friend seems to be doing ok. He had a really hard time at first, but he seems to have pulled through a lot of it quickly. I'm sure some of that will come back tomorrow at the funeral, but I think he is going to be ok.
On a lighter note, I pulled together my portfolio so I can apply to this master class thing. It was a big pain in the ass.. lots of photographing set models (two of which are in my pictures) and such... I hope I get in. I guess we'll see.
Anyways, heres to a great lady and a true friend *raises glass*. you will not be forgotten....
