So what did you all do friday?
I had to bang out 4 funerals today. Blasting up and down the highway to get to them all in time (4 in 3 hours all about 30 min apart is a little difficult).
My reward for doing a good job...
A free ticket to the fund raiser dinner in honor of the MOH recipient Tom Kelley! The tickets were $100 bucks and 100% of the proceeds (about 300k) went to a fund to help pay for the college educations of all of the children of fallen soldiers from MA in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. It was very cool, I got to meet all sorts of people; 3 MOH recipients, Sen. Scott Brown, Charlie Baker, some other politicians who are less memorable, some radio personalities, like everyone from the Boston news channels, and a handful of generals and admirals...I was one of the few soldiers in the room so people I guess felt the need to come over to me to say hi (Tom Kelley was in the Navy so it was mostly Navy folks there and I kind of stuck out).
It was a relatively early evening...it kind of had to be as the average age in the room was probably like 50-60. But I had a good time, the food was delicious, and really how often do you actually get to meet a LIVING MOH recipient let alone three of them all at once?
