Sounds like a case of WIN to me!

so in the latest news of the world, HIV was cured! now i know that sounds untrue, and for the most part it is, but this guy had cancer and HIV and they cured both. what happened was the chemo he was receiving destroyed his immune system. so they had to give him a bone marrow transplant so the HIV didnt kill him. but instead of using standard bone marrow, they used stem cells from a person who has a natural immunity to HIV (~1% of the population). the treatments were both a success in sending his leukemia into remission and eliminating his HIV.

and while you people might be like "wow, the wonders of modern medicine will never cease", i do have to remind you that stem cell bone marrow transplants arent always guaranteed to take and the treatment could very well kill someone. so while this is a cure for HIV, its also not a cure for HIV. what needs to come of this is new medicines or treatments instead of this extremely risky procedure.
