i hear a lot of bitching about the environment lately, and not without good reason. but people, really, give it a rest.
you try and minimize your impact on the world? you want to make the world a better place? i have the single best way for people to do that. everyone here can do it quite easily. no you dont have to drive your car less, no you dont have to become a vegan, no you dont have to compost your waste. nope, this is better than all of that.
you have to stop using computers. yes indeed. you guys should go check out the waste created from making and disposing of computers (including that failed attempt of apple's to make a "green" laptop (a screen made out of glass instead of plastic doesnt do anything...just makes your lap top less durable...). but then also there is the incredible amount of power needed to run all those inefficient computers. and that people leave them on all the time. and that people usually on average buy a new one ever few years. jesus not to mention the internet (think of what its like every time a major carrier changes over their servers).
i could go on. really, its incredible how horrible my laptop is for the environment (and mine is an energy star lap top so its better than a lot of yours).
so when i tell you to stop your bitching and leave it alone, because no matter how much of your own shit you compost, and however many priuses or insights you buy (which are worse for the environment than most other cars), none of it matters. the term 'drop in the bucket' doesnt even begin to describe you (i.e. you dont matter. period). or if i make the comment that global warming, in the "scientific" theory that is currently popular, is a load of crap. but i dont expect to hear any negative comments, no replies denying what i say is true, because all of you who read this are going to turn around and throw away your lap tops and become luddites as thats the only way you'll make any sort of positive impact on the world (did i mention that you dont matter).
I for one am going to keep my laptop. i'm going to use it often, buy a new one every few years, because i dont care. the tactic of guilting me into being environmentally friendly just doesnt work because as you type on your new laptop, and post blogs and visit "lets all be green" websites, you're ruining my environment more than my 15 mpg jeep. (also, my internet is going to run sooooo much faster now that all of you are abstaining from computers)
