Just finished hitting up the Vancouver Gaming Expo, which was oddly enough in New Westminster (that's Canada for those of you not in the know.)
First day was stellar, hit up the Call of Duty Tournament with my homie Dana and see how far we could take it. Sadly, it took place on a xbox environment to which I fail with the controllers (ps3 owner here).
Anyhoo, just before the tournament beings the admins tell us they got their hands on a copy of Black Ops 2 from one of the local dealers and were going to have us play that!
So, new game, new maps, and no one has a fucking clue what's going on. GREAT!
Thankfully, there was about 20 people that signed up and 4 people match. So Dana and I got to watch the maps and learn from other people' mistakes.
SADLY, the way the numbers worked out Dana and I were in the same group. At this point I might add I had about 3 drinks so a bit buzzed and playing COD (Dana too, btw).
My console was hosting the Game which meant the giant screen was my POV that the audience was watching. Oh Goodie. So while I was playing I hear 100 or so people backseat driving and scream out things I should do. At one point, I ran out of bullets and had to switch to my secondary, to find that I actually didn't have a secondary gun, but a missile launcher and stalking my prey. As soon as I switched, and thinking if I should shoot, I hear the audience scream in enjoyment and scream SHOOT.
Fuck, so what do I do?
I go for it. Miss. Person turns around, kills me. Shit.
In the end. Dana kicks three other guys ass in COD. The admins are surprised. She then becomes the official Gamer spank bank for the guys.
After that, she works her way into the second round. To which I had to film because I was kicked out. Fuck you Dana. Which can be seen here.
TLDW, She kicks all the guys asses AGAIN!! Then works her way into semi finals. To which sadly, she lost, and placed 4th (we think, can't recall, we were a bit buzzed at this point). After, all the gamer boys flock to her, and ask for her Gamertag. Yes, these are the pickup lines of the nerd community.
The night ends with a VIDEO GAME BURLESQUE with THE VANDOLLS!
Not, bad. Cute girls take off their outfits to nerdy themes. I can live with that. Oddly, one that sticks out in my head was a girl rocking a master chief outfit dancing to Jay Z big pimpin. Some how it all made sense. -_-
Day 2.
Was a bit sad, and aimed more for kids. Played in a Mario Kart Tournament. I failed the first round yet again. </3
Later on, they had a Twisted Metal tournament. Only because the guy that organized the event LOVES Twisted Metal. I mean, how actually likes Twisted metal?!?
Thankfully, everyone else didn't have a clue how to play and I wasn't drunk and managed to get 2nd!! Booyeah bitches!!
Overall, decent event. Would do it again, and there's a retro one happening in May. So I need to check that out.
