this just in, i am sick. just in time for my days off. i was feeing awful and the jr. line cook that worked with me tonight was not focused and making mistakes everywhere and it was making me really pissed. mostly because it was a slow night and he's much better than his efforts were today. the low reservations put his guard down. anyhow, that plus feeling like shit made me lay into him a little more than i should have. at the same time, when you do have to be focused there isn't time for a long conversation. a kind of feel like a dick, but we all go through it. at least it was slow enough i got to leave around 8 o'clock. coming in on your day off is a good thing to trade on nights like these.
my uncle is coming up to ski for the first time since i've lived here. he is the one who introduced me to the making of skiing (5th grade, wilmot, IL) took me to steamboat springs for my bar mitzvah gift (14 years old) where i was able to snowboard in the mountains for the very first time. coming back from that trip my mom asked me how it was and i said "i'm going to live there someday. when i was in high school he took me on his one ski trip every year. a finance conference for college professors in Salt Lake City that set its work schedule around lift times. i went with him like 7 years in a row. i was a staple there and made friends the professors whom we skiied with every year. its where i really grew to love the mountains, and progressed my ability in snowboarding. being able to look forward to that trip every year. I'm annoyed that i'm sick but i'm still going to try and tough it out the three days he's here. hopefully the worst of this cold holds off a bit.

Feel better soon! My feeling of boredom because of lack of any real mountains around here just got worse because I now have FUEL TV at my new place...lol
