i was a little worried waking up yesterday to start the last leg of the drive. there was a winter storm warning for the mountains and snow was in the forecast from 6am through the late night. i was really really dreading the thought of spending another night NOT in my bed.
got in the car and started the drive, made it about 30 miles outside denver and started making calls to people in vail for weather updates. got word that it wasn't snowing yet and that the roads were mostly dry except for the Tunnel Pass and Vail Pass and decided to go for it.
roads turned out to be fine, just slushy and a little slick at the Passes (jack knifing semis and pick ups galore) but i took it easy and made it up and down with no trouble. i was very happy to be back. ran some quick errands and then pretty much got stoned for the rest of the day.
woke up around 9:30 today because i'm still on central time. showered, took the pooch out, hit the grocery store. shopped for some healthy stuff because i ate whatever all week i was gone and two days of travel meant more fast food than i'd ever care to eat.
lunch today was asian style chicken lettuce wraps containing: carrot, green onion, celery, shitake mushroom, garlic, ginger, hoisen, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and a spicy bean paste i brought back from japan
a little salad with a scallion/ginger/miso dressing.
feeling good.

on a snow/driving related note:
I hate carless drivers especially when it comes to snow. I was taking my bestie up to the mountain to teach her how to board... We ended up getting caught in a blizzard. I was driving my dads truck which isn't the best snow vehicle, it's a small 4wd truck but the tires are shit. So I was being extra cautious driving down the pass and I had people passing me (I was keeping right so they could) and these jackoff's in their lifted trucks & jeeps were flying down passing me. What happens when I get to the bottom? Oh yeah they're flipped to the right side. Both a jeep and a truck; I had to just shake my head and laugh.
gotta love idiots.
