so to know me is to know my general dislike of all things swimming or related to it. this includes beaches, sand, pools, hot tubs, you get the idea. but since i was in san diego and couldn't get tattooed, and since Tom is one of my #1 homeboyz i decided to let the curiosity get the best of me and tried surfing. to say that surfing is hard is the king of underestimations. i'll hit a powder day at 9am - 2pm then work until 1am, but surfing is more exhausting. that coupled with the fact that i have NEVER been in the ocean and i haven't swam since i was a kid. i admit that i was a little scared. and by my friend's standards the waves were "junk". i never really got comfortable in the water, and didn't paddle out past where i could stand. i was able to catch one wave on my stomach, but never got to the point where i could try and stand. i might try it again sometime. the real success of the day was fitting into tom's extra wetsuit.

the family trip was another success. we stayed in a very nice house in a fancy part of san diego. i had to share a room with my 20 year old cousin justin. that came in handy when i went out drinking with Tom and couldn't unlike the ridiculous lock on the front door. we did some hiking at Torrey Pines State Park along the coast, which was very beautiful. Had a great lunch at Sbicca in Del Mar. Went to the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum which was really cool. you have no idea how massive these ships are until you're on one. San Diego is a major marine and navy hub and at any given time you can see 1-4 carriers and dozens of war ships in the San Diego Bay. Did Point Loma and Cabrillo National Park. There's a cool old lighthouse and amazing views of the city.

my niece is getting her first teeth. she is the only crying baby i can stand.

came back to work tonight and my entire menu has changed.

I had a rough time learning to surf too. The waves were never to good where I lived down south anyways.
