my interviews went very well. the hotel position is at the Vail Cascade and it would essentially be the same position i do now (banquet Sous Chef) but at a much bigger property that does events up to 1000 people. I'm not looking for more responsibility right now, i'm looking to learn a little bit more. i will end up declining their offer even though it might be more money.
the small restaurant is where i want to be. it will mean a pay cut and getting some different health coverage (which to most of you i know sounds crazy) but it will give me an opportunity to grow more as a professional and practice more technique. essentially this job would better prepare me for my ultimate goal which is working in Europe. My interview with the chef went really well and she wants me to meet her other business partners before final plans are made. I'll also get a chance to pick up hours in the cheese and wine shops that are part of the company and get me more familiar with those aspects of the field.
this weekend i was surrounded by all my friends and old roommates from college for our friends wedding in Denver. We've all known the couple for 5 years and i played in a band with the Groom. It was an amazing and exhausting weekend as eighteen 27 year olds drank like they were 20 years old again. the reception was super low key as they rented out the roof patio of a bar right near Coors Field. Drew's buddy from high school and his band came to play and were fantastic. The singer is Miles Neilsen, the son of Rick Neilsen from Cheap Trick and he was great.
my last memory is slow dancing to a great cover of Let's Get It On
