So, I am going to go on a little rant for a minute because I don't really have anywhere else to post this, especially when most of the people here are not here to read me rant, but rather look at hot naked women. Yes? I mean, don't get me wrong, I am no different than anyone else, I love seeing beautiful women, but, there I have to get this off my chest.
So, I am a photographer. I think that for anyone who reads this blog or knows me is aware of that by now. However, the interesting thing is that I am doing my thing as much as I can, every day, and more and more people are starting notice like people from RedBull Photography, Nikon Ambassadors, different magazines, the USL league itself love to use my photos and shit. But really, I don't get any paying gigs, I don't have a photographic job or really any notice from it from anyone who would pay me anything. I have not gotten a solid paying university gig. I know I have Radford under my belt, I have that. But that is only an adjunct job. I am not promised a single class at all any semester that I have under contract with them. That is my issue. There might be a full year that I don't get a class and I am trying to find something else to do and pay back my student loans and more. It sucks. I applied to become a RedBull Photographer, but I was not selected as one this year, but half of their photographers follow me on Instagram for fuck sake. I just don't know what more to do.
Now I am not really asking for much. I have been doing photography for 30 years this year...holy fucking shit, 30 years this year. I didn't even realize that until I just posted that. I am 35 years old, turning 36 this year, and I started doing my photographic work when I was six. I just think that now, after all of the years, having my MFA, doing all of these years of photos for literally NO money (the most I have been paid was the $800 take home cash (that took about six months for them to pay) from this past summer) and...the only thing I can think of is this is worse than a public school teacher in the States. I know that I wanted to do this, that I selected to have this as my career, but I also thought that some kind of money would come about it when I got my MFA, that I wouldn't have to work at Starbucks as my full time job while doing photos on the side...it is crazy. However, you know just as well as I do that I would be doing this for the rest of my life, because I do love it. I just wish that I could make some money doing it as well.
Anyway, on a different note, I went through and took my son to the mall today, to get him out of the house for a bit, and we stopped by the Microsoft store. He was able to try the VR that they have, and he LOVED it. He wants it for the big family holiday gift for this next Christmas. Here is the photograph that I did take of him. Yes, I do still take my camera everywhere. So here is the photograph, since we all know that is why I post these anyway, and that is why most people even look at these blogs...but I love you all still.
