Recently, I have had the chance to go over some old photos and negatives that my mother had given me about six months ago or so. MAN, I am so happy I did, I found a TON of old and what I think might be lost negatives of photographs from the early to mid 1980s of me and my family, like right after I was born to about five years old.
I was lucky enough to be able to have a camera lens that I can go through and get kind of tight in with these negatives, and was able to photograph one strip, held up next to a lamp, and then do a little work in Photoshop, just to get a better idea of what the photos actually looked like.
So yes...as you can see, this is really freaking cool. Some of these photos I had no idea even existed until I started looking at these and my mind was blown. One reason is because my parents got divorced when I was 10 months old. Not even a year out into the world. As you can see from this enlargement below of the photo that is fully in the light above, this image (at least) was taken during those ten months that they were still together.
Nevermind the bad early 80s clothing and hair cuts, and the fact that it also shows my older brother, who is older by four years...this an amazing find. I know it might not be to a lot of you, or rather MOST of you, out there reading or looking at this blog, but to me it is. I actually got in trouble the night that I found these because I stayed up WAY too late looking through them all and lost track of time, and not being able to go to sleep when I wanted to and thus being VERY tired the next morning, a time where even 3 cups of coffee couldn't fix. It sucked.
However, I am currently looking for a high quality scanner so I can scan these negatives in and then work on them in Photoshop to see exactly what they all look like. I mean, there are hundreds of photos here, a majority of them I have never seen before.
