My best friend Matt told me that a lot of top spiritual leaders suggested meditating 20 minutes a day twice daily.

"Well... I think Osho suggested 45 minutes twice daily... but that's like a way of life shit."

Even though I quit drinking on New Years Eve last year, it just happened like that. It wasn't expected. And in my time over the past year, my belief for anyone to change anything because the calendar year changes to 01/01 is fucking ridiculous to me. I don't get it. People make this change in their life when they're ready, and when they are, they start immediately.

So, I suppose, my thing is to not wait for New Years to enact my resolutions, but to make my resolutions now, and work on them daily. What are some of mine?

- 20 minutes of meditation twice daily. When I wake up and before I go to sleep. 20 minutes to practice quieting my mind, which, anytime I, or my best friend are not steadily in the practice of this, we're sorely and mentally out of whack. It takes 21 days to create a successful habit, so maybe I might try to blog about this, so I can hold myself accountable.

- Reinvigorate my interests (daily). I used to have a lot more I'm still interested in them. It wasn't until I was around someone who had a set of interests that I used to foster did I realize that I should be fostering them. So, I need to allow myself to be a multi-faceted person in this regard, rather than rattle off old knowledge and old things I used to read. I bought more graffiti magazines today, I did in high school, I did in my early 20s, no reason why I shouldn't do it now.

- "Maintain the house as though God were about to enter." This was a cleaning meditation that I read online somewhere. I dropped this on Matt, and he still brings up the notion of at least ATTEMPTING to do this, even though we're both sort of lazy.

- Drink more water. Cause it's fucking good for you and your body can't do shit without it.

Small, simple things, just to make sure that I'm the best I can be on a day-to-day basis. What most resolution articles are going to say, I'm going to repeat.... start now.

That's awesome and good for you. I believe too that when you are ready is when you should do things. Otherwise you never follow through. As well if you post it on a blog you very well might feel more obligated to follow through. I think that way as well.

Enjoy!

I agree waiting for NYE to make life changing resolutions is silly, however, its better than never making any so the lesser of 2 evils for sure.

Water water and more water. So important.

I need to reinvigorate my interests too. I feel like ive lost sight of things as well, and may have to make a cliche NYE resolution to right the ship.

Good luck.
