sent an email a few weeks ago to a friend danny from LA who throws a party down in SD called dub riders. sent a soundcloud link of thelast radio show i did. big giant horsemen logo. flashin' the colors. swingin' the flag all proud.

you know, "book me, mutha fucka."

asked me if i was in for his next show, i said i was down.

the event flyer gets posted and i'm at the bottom opening for two dubstep acts from LA.

i was a little bit upset, i mean, not only am i opening, but for dubstep, neither of which i do. i really would figure some international cred like that would give me a better timeslot, but, whatever. my sponsor had always stressed the idea of viewing my DJ'ing as a means of being of service. therefore, i interpret that as any opportunity to get the music out there should be taken (unless it would completely hinder future opportunities).

went in with more experimental. a 2 hour set, airing out some of the new movements going on. none of usual will guise block rockers, a more chilled out and vibey. a lot of people were surprised and pleased. some very big compliments from other people i respect, even cats i would think wouldn't be into drum & bass in the first place.

the promoter was so happy he was going to give word to rob machete out in LA to seriously consider looking at me. i'd sent him emails before, but i'm sure everything got lost in the torrent of a lot of others. despite whatever credits are next to my name and my history, i really don't have a following quite yet in california. i'm hoping with the proper introduction to the main man in LA, he'll be able to take a look and see what it is that i bring to the table. which, is a lot.

so, by remaining as selfless as possible, and accepting an opportunity, it may now lead to something greater.

here's to the next half of 2011.
