what's new? i'm doing A&R and shit-talking for a drum n bass label. apparently i have taste. who knew. but then again, i'm also someone who is investing in this project, so i guess i'm an additional financial backer.
i turned down my last DJ gig because the promoter wanted to stick me on the closing slot, collect money from the door, and not pay me, or even host a tab. if i'm not playing for free, i'm playing for fun, and it's not fun to spend an entire night sober to have to work to keep people in the club (which, i know i can do easily). besides, if i wanted a fucking beer, the promoter doesn't keep a tab, and i'd have to pay my own way while i'm trying to mix. if he was a buddy of mine, i would have done it anyway, but he's a fucking jerk who already screwed over one my boys in the fam.
that's fucking dnb for you, btw. fuck that noise.
i didn't think anyone would care until i had a considerable amount of people hit me up telling me they were looking forward to me playing that night.
i started school for what i'm going to be doing for the next 2-3 years of life. we didn't really start class, but somehow i already have homework.
earlier i was told i was going to be the only tech in the shop for what i work on, but then i class up with a bunch of other techs all going to japan, (probably the same shop). how snazzy that i get to meet some of my co-workers when we're in school for the next 3 months. the class is small, only six.
i hope i can try to build that sense of togetherness that i had with my last shop. it was probably the only time in my life in which i genuinely liked most of the people i worked with. and somehow, even when new people came in, they seemed to fall into the same attitude quite easily.
but i don't like talking about work.
