hmm, hmm.
It's raining in Bellingham. Normally, this wouldn't be something to write home about (or place in the annals of a weblog).
But while Bellingham is known for it's wetter weather, we have had here a record breaking summer for heat and drought. personally, I hated this summer. not only did I have to sleep in daylight during this wretched heatwave, but I moved here from Idaho precisely to avoid desertlike heat.
got some fillings today. I have the tendancy to get really numb by novocaine in the more fleshier parts of my mouth (tongue and cheeks and gums) but my teeth resist the chemical persuasion to not feel pain. Which is fine by me, I feel cheated if I don't wince, sweat, and white-knuckle on the armrests. Doctor wasn't pleased by my less than indeifference to the drilling. He scolded, "you're not numb!" to me, and if I didn't have a rubber dam, a drill, a suction tube, and a fat lip in my mouth I would have said "damn right!" Seriously though, if he can work with me tensing up and shuddering in agony, I can handle a bit of pain for 5 seconds at a time. Dentists need to not be babies.
My mother didn't take me to the dentist until I was 10, and that was to get a tooth extracted because it had a hole in it that covered 3/4ths of the tooth. She thought I'd be afraid of the dentist... hell, and I was, he's got a pair of pliers in my mouth rearrangin' the chompers. when I have kids, they go to the dentist every 6 months, period.
