so here i am back in jersey with nowhere to call home yet. i came up and was supposed to stay with my brother for a few weeks to find a place and get settled, but my life is pretty typical in that anything that can go wrong, will. we got here after a long day of loading up the truck and an even longer drive through the night. i entered his apartment and it was disgusting, so i was already searching for an alternative in my mind. a few hours later an exterminator came, which i thought was just a routine monthly thing, but it turned out that his apartment had been supposedly infested with bed bugs, roaches and fleas.... and so it begins.
my brother has a mental illness and lives in a building run by a program called Advance Housing that helps him along so he can live on his own and get things done. the exterminator told them that there was a baby staying there and they immediately came and told me about the possible infestation and that it was not approved for me to stay there (after my brother had told me it was). they then called DYFS and the police. as soon as i heard they were calling these officials i got a number for a shelter hotline and called them and texted a couple friends to let them know. the hotline said i wasn't qualified because i'm not on welfare, but good old Scott came through and we will be at his place for at least a week and we'll take it from there.
i still have the money that all of you have helped me with so that i can get a new place. my stuff is now in a storage unit where the first month is free, so if i can get it all out by the 13th of June then i'll save $118.
i'm looking for a job, place and childcare and now i've finally gotten Finn's SS card, but still waiting on the birth certificate, so as soon as i get that, i can get started with childcare and assistance.
i'll come on once in a while to say hi when i can and to update you all until my account is expired.
