I think I managed to find a cheat code for impressing women today; take them on a really shitty date.
Obviously that's only tongue in cheek but this morning I went with a chick I've been seeing for the last few weeks for coffee/breakfast and the place was an absolute train wreck.
It was almost an hour before we even got our food, and even longer before we got our coffee (I'm still not sure how that works) and when we did it was just awful. The food was a) barely cooked; and b) ice cold. The coffee was way too hot and the coffee itself tasted burnt. Plus, to top it all off, our waiter was a complete arrogant wanker.
If you're a middle aged man working as a waiter in a random cafe you haven't really earned the right to be an arrogant douchebag.
Anyway it was a total trainwreck and I was (internally) freaking out that there was literally nothing else that could possibly make this worse and was just failing miserably in the whole trying to impress her stakes.
But externally at least I kept my cool, made a bunch of stupid jokes and somehow managed to not go completely ballistic at the arrogant d-bag waiter.
If I had been there with friends or family I'm pretty certain I would have totally lost it.
I think that actually did impress her and she seemed to open up a lot more after the whole ordeal which was cool.
So silver linings and all that.
