Goooooooooooood morning! What did everybody get up to last night? Here's what I did.
This dude I used to work with recently got a job doing promotions/booking for this new club near me. He invited me out to come check the place out and see this band they had playing. I was down, I was curious, I was on the guestlist, so I went out there to do a little recon and the A&R thing.
It's a cool looking little synth/industrial type club, they have these awesome glyphic panels around the doors, reminds me of the vampire safehouses in Blade. There are some things they could do to make the place cooler and better, but all in all it's pretty nifty.
I met up with him when I got there as he wanted me to meet some people. As we're heading into the back room where the club kids are doing their make-up, getting dressed, etc. he tells me that my ex-girlfriend is back there...she'll be modeling for the fashion show tonight. I saw red. Sonofabitch couldn't have told me earlier in the day when I talked with him.
It wouldn't bother me because I've been civil with the girl, but I mistakenly IMed her last week to get this dude's e-mail address (she assimillated my friend/acquaintance base when we broke up...she didn't have any of her own) and during the conversation she asked "do you still think about me?" I'm done playing games like that, especially over IM. I didn't respond because any answer I gave would've been coated in venom. She said she still thinks about me. Needless to say, things were going to be weird. Whatever, I'm a big boy, that shit doesn't bother me too much...but apparently when I left for a bit she went up to my friend that came with me and did a little flirting and asked him to dance. That annoys me.
I take a smile in the fact that she's looking worn-out and haggard even in her "fuck-me-boots" and short skirt, while I'm still the cute gentlemen I've always been...even if my hair has been cut short for a "re-start" process
The DJs at this place (yes, two of them and not spinning vinyl) didn't have ANY New Order. Ummmmmm, is that even legal when there's dance music involved? I went up there with my friend because he wanted to show me the setup. They actually suggested playing a set involving Cotton Eyed Joe and Macarena.
Are you for fucking real? What is this, my junior high school dance?!
My friend said that I should burn some mixes to CD for the club. I jokingly said "why don't you just hire me to DJ?" Yeah, that looks like it's actually going to happen. I'll be meeting with him later in the week to discuss some business. Now that would be cool. By day - A&R, by night - spinning hot shit electronic in a club.
They also don't have anyone that can run a soundboard, even though they had a live band...it sounded like ass. Headshaking moments all around...maybe I should volunteer for that as well
To wrap this all up. I found the new Apoptygma Berzerk song "In This Together" on Limewire the other day. Way cool track, it's more of a rock song than a dance song...can't wait for the new album.
The sun is out, I'm gonna go bother my friend and see if I can talk his sister into putting her bikini on and going for a swim. She's so cute and I don't think she fully realizes it...but that's a story for another time.
