I went and saw Man on Fire last night and I was WOWed. This is probably one of the best movies that I have ever seen. I laughed, cried (yes tears), got pissed and felt avenged all in one sitting. This movie is a great movie. This is what I would do if I wrote a revenge movie. No bullshit sparing lives and shit, just killing with no remorse, good ol fashioned, down to earth death.

Denzel Washington stars as a drunk bodyguard hired to protect a little girl. He is not the nicest of people and doesn't click well with her. But they become friends and then she gets kidnapped. It all goes uphill from there. Denzel kicks ass. This guy gets better in his roles every time I see him. Its because he has a perfectly symetrical face. Everything is aligned. Unlike Shannon Dougherty, whose Picasso faced self reminds me of a story my mom used to tell me when I was bad and kept getting out of bed at night. One of her eyes resides uptown from the other one. Freakishly scary.

The plot is rich, the camera work is often times jumpy but brilliant none the less in it's oddity. The supporting actors are also great. They perform well without stealing the show from the bodyguard. With the good does come a bad point but nothing that I couldn't overlook during the times when sheer violence and beautiful dialogue takes over. Denzel is black and while he would fit in here, Mexico doesn't seem to be deep in black people. I feel that he would stick out like a sore thumb down there if he went on a killing rampage. But like I said you barely notice this as he bashes, cuts, shoots and blows up his way through Mexico worse than any class 5 Twister ever could.

For those of you not in the know, this is a remake of a movie with the same title that starred Scott Glenn, the American sub captain from Hunt for Red October. The original is good but this one is flat out amazing.

I give this one a 9.99. almost a 10 but for the point I mentioned above.

Go see this movie. It is well worth your money, time and it will make you feel good and warm inside to know that somewhere out there, is someone who can really just get down and past all the sappy crap to blow someone up with a bomb in the rectum for doing something they shouldn't have. I'm tingley all over.
_bossanova_:
I heard that it's a great movie but the cinematography is a bit headache-inducing. I LOVED Training Day; it really surprised me.

Man, I'm giving up on the ladies and everyone else for the summer. Dating is too much of a bother!

Boobies are always nice, though.biggrin
