Yeah, that thread was bad. I like this site but I am not like some people that LIVE sg. They can get crazy. I have been here over two years and have the post count half that of some people that have been here since June of this year.

Her name is Resolute, she's a 42 foot all-wood yawl. She was designed by Herreshoff and built at the Luders yard in 1932 for the US Naval Academy, #12 of 14 at the Academy. She had an illustrious racing career before WWII. In the 1970's, West Point had a fleet of fiberglass replicas built to the original Herreshoff lines (less maintenance). The original woodem boats were distriuted to officers' clubs at various bases. Resolute went to San Diego, where she quickly fell into disrepair without the ready supply of midshipmen in need of punishments to maintain her. She was hauled out and stored dry for almost ten years. My alma mater, Evergreen (Olympia, WA), bought her for a dollar at auction. She was all rust and gaping cracks in her hull. Don Fassett, a retired engineer, and some faculty and students replaced every single screw in every single plank of her hull, sistered three of her ribs, recaulked every seam and made many other repairs and floated her in the 1980's. I sailed her all around Puget Sound for two quarters in 1992-93 when I was in a combined-studies program called Maritime Explorations. It was one of the best times of my life. I haven't lived aboard a boat since. You can guess by the length of this response, I miss it.
