I have seen movies that are adaptations from things that I cherished as a child, and none of them were what I could say, good. It has made me hesitant (needless to say) in seeing anything worthy of my opinion or protecting the magic of my childhood - that has changed.
I watched "Transformers" tonight.
It's been nearly six hours since I left the theater and I'm still thinking about the movie and the need to go and see it again. I know I do not need to go into detail about the premise of the film - we all know the epic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, and that humans get caught in the middle of their war, but what this movie didn't have in originality, it had in keeping the true spirit of of the series very much so alive. I felt like I was six years old again after leaving the theater - I was hoping my Jetta would transform, making sound effects like I was one of the Autobots and having the want to go right back into the theater and watch it all over again.
Sure, the movie had it faults, but I didn't care in the least - from the moment I heard Peter Cullen (the original voice actor of Optimus Prime), I got goose bumps and was hooked for the next two and a half hours. I even had moments where I felt sadness, because of certain things that happened to my favorite Transformer - and this is rare of me, since I'm a "heartless schmuck". The best part overall; Sara even liked it - and she's never seen a single episode of "Transformers" in her life!
So once again, I don't want to give out too much info, but just go and see the movie. Yes, it a Michael Bay flick, but it's hands down his best movie ever (may have to do with Spielberg's hand in the making of the movie), just please - go and see it. If you are a man-child in the ages of the mid-twenties and watched the cartoon, you won't be disappointed.
